Borrowing @ Jacob Burns Law Library

Loan periods and fees

Borrowing from the Consortium Loan Service through WRLC

The law library participates in the Consortium Loan Service (CLS) for WRLC.  CLS allows GW Law students, faculty and staff to borrow materials and to request copies of articles from resources not available in our collection.  WRLC is a consortium of research libraries in the local area.

Materials are available from the George Washington University libraries (Gelman, Eckles, and the Virginia Science & Technology campus), Himmelfarb Medical Library, the WRLC shared collection facility and member libraries of WRLC.

Books are delivered to the law library within a few days of the request.  Articles are sent by email to the requestor, usually within a day or two.

Except for GW Law students, faculty and staff, the law library is not a pick-up location for items borrowed through CLS.

Borrowing through Interlibrary Library Resource Sharing

Interlibrary loan services are open to GW Law students with records in good standing, faculty, and staff to borrow materials or to receive copies of articles from publications that are not held in the law library's collection.  This resource sharing service encompasses thousands of libraries around the country and the world.

For more information, see our interlibrary loan guide.
