To obtain research accounts, send an email request to electronicservices@law.gwu.libanswers.com. The email should include full name, @law email address, GWID, and graduation year.
* Spring 2024 graduates must register for student accounts prior to graduation in order to take advantage of the graduate access programs. Once you graduate, the Law Library cannot issue student level research accounts.
Continuing Students
No summer access restrictions. This access is automatic for existing accounts and is unlimited and unrestricted.
* Bloomberg Law advises students to ask their employer about any policy the firm or organization may have regarding the use of student accounts for firm/organizational business.
Graduating Students
All graduates have continuous, access for six months following graduation. Spring 2024 graduates will have access through November 30, 2024. This access is automatic for existing student accounts and is unlimited and unrestricted.

Continuing Students
Lexis is providing full access to Lexis+® through students’ law school ID throughout the months of May, June, July and August. During this period the permissible uses of their LexisNexis law school educational ID are expanded to include use at any law firm, government agency, court or other legal position, internship, externship or clerkship.
*Students should check with their employers first. Some employers would rather students use their firm IDs rather than their law school IDs for billing purposes.
Graduating Students
Graduating 3Ls have continued access to Lexis for six months following graduation beginning on July 1, 2024.

You can use Thomson Reuters products, including Westlaw and Practical Law, over the summer for non-commercial research. You can turn to these resources to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills, but you cannot use them in situations where you are billing a client. Examples of permissible uses for your academic password include the following:

Graduating Students
You have access to Thomson Reuters products, including Westlaw and Practical Law, for six months after graduation by registering for “Grad Elite” access here. Register prior to graduation as grad elite access begins upon graduation not at the time of registration.
“Grad Elite” access gives you 60-hours of usage on these products per month to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills. While you cannot use it in situations where you are billing a client, Thomson Reuters encourages you to use these tools to build your knowledge of the law and prepare for your bar exam.
