Bound by Law: Azo

Bindings can be both beautiful and useful. While the blind-stamped floral designs of this volume serve a purely aesthetic role, the ornamental brass fixtures also serve a preservation purpose. In addition to the clasps and latches to keep the book closed while not in use (latches missing from our copy), the brass fixtures found on the corners and center of the covers protected the binding from the rough wooden shelves on which it laid flat.
