Faculty Request for Complimentary Examination/Desk Copies

This guide provides guidance from publishers to request a complimentary book for review and/or examination. Consult the publishers website for complete details.

PUBLISHERS T - Z

  • Thomson Reuters (Aspatore Books, Warren, Gotham and Lamont)
    • "Complimentary copies of texts are (typically) available to professors who wish to consider adopting them or recommending them to their classes, if they have not received previous copies." 
  • University of Chicago Press
    • An examination copy is available for any book that is being considered for course use at a 20% discount.  The invoiced cost will be cancelled if the book is adopted for the course.  
    • A desk copy is available for any book that has been adopted for a course and the university text book store has ordered ten copies. 
  • WestAcademic (Foundation Press)
    • "Complimentary review copies of texts are available to professors who wish to consider adopting them or recommending them to their classes, provided they have not received previous copies of the same title."
  • Wiley Publishing 
    • Ninety-day evaluation copies are provided and invoiced.  The invoice will be cancelled if the book is returned or notice provided that at least ten copies on the book are ordered. 
  • William H. Hein & Co. Publishing
    • "We provide review copies of Hein publications to professors who are currently teaching or preparing to teach a course where the book is being considered for adoption, or to organizations that publish book reviews. Our primary format for reviewing books is via Hein’s Online Legal Bookstore which includes our most popular classroom texts, casebooks, general student books, and legal research and writing books.  We will provide 30-day free access to the online legal bookstore where you can review the titles digitally."

  • Wolters Kluwer (CCH, Aspen Publishing)
    • "Please go to www.wklegaledu.com and then search or browse for the book you are interested in. You can search by ISBN, author, title, or keyword. Once on the product page, click the Professor Review Copy button and fill out the form."
  • Yale University Press
    • "​E-Exam copy: Eligible titles feature a request button on the book’s page. If this is your first request, you will be prompted to set up a VitalSource account. Once your request has been submitted and approved, you will receive a link for accessing the text online."
    • "To request a print exam/desk copy: Eligible titles feature a request button on the book's page. Complete the request form to submit your request. You must have an instructor account in order to make a requests. If you do not have an instructor account you will be prompted to create one."
