Using Zoom in the Classroom

Starting the Room AV System & Logging in to the Computer

1. Use the room touch control panel to Power on (Power > Projector On) the projector and lower the projector screen (or TVs depending on the room).

2. Make sure the Volume on the panel is unmuted.

3. Log in to the classroom computer using your University UserID and password.

 

NOTE:

UserID

Your UserID is the ID that you'll use to log in to GW resources.  For users who claimed their GW Identity after May 22, 2022: Your UserID is your GWID.

Your User ID is the first part of your GW email address (formerly NetID) and is followed by @gwu.edu, @email.gwu.edu, or @gwmail.gwu.edu.
Ex: JohnDoe123@gwmail.gwu.edu. "JohnDoe123" is the UserID for this user.

GWID

A GWID is an alpha-numeric value used to identify you within GW's administrative systems, and is required to access GW IT resources. Your GWID is the letter G followed by an 8-digit number. For example: G12345678

Starting a Zoom Meeting as Host

1. Open a web browser (e.g. Google Chrome) and navigate to www.law.gwu.edu

2. Click Law School Email in the top banner of the website.

3. Log in to your @law email account with your University UserID and password.

4. Click the Google 9 dot menu in your @law email, scroll down and click the Zoom tile.

5. Now in your Zoom account, click Meetings in the left panel.

6. Find the meeting, then hover over it and click Start.

7. Click Join with Computer Audio if prompted.

8. Click the Audio settings caret ^ (or Mute button ^) and make sure that (AV Bridge) is selected for Microphone and DVX-3255 is selected for Speaker.

9. Click the Video settings caret ^ and make sure AV Bridge is selected for Camera. These correct audio and video selections should default upon starting the meeting.

Starting a Zoom Meeting as an Attendee

1. Open a web browser (e.g. Google Chrome) and navigate to www.law.gwu.edu

2. Click Law School Email in the top banner of the website.

3. Log in to your @law email account with your University UserID and password.

4. Click the 9 dot menu in Gmail and click the Calendar app. (OR find the meeting link wherever you have it, like an email)

5. Find the Zoom invite in your calendar and click the link to join the meeting.

4. Click Join with Computer Audio if prompted.
