Practice Materials

Westlaw: Evidence

Each legal issue in a published court opinion is identified, summarized in a headnote, and assigned a topic and Key Number in the West Key Number system. It is a very helpful classification system for researching case law using either Westlaw or one of their print digests, including West's Atlantic Digest, which is on the second floor of the Burns Law Library. The same Key Number can be used in any West source.

Use the Evidence Key Numbers to find cases in Westlaw concerning the law of evidence. Some related topics are covered by other topics and Key Numbers, including Federal Civil Procedure. Click the "i" icon next to a specific legal topic to see what subjects are covered and excluded.

In addition, search Westlaw for other texts & treatises on Evidence.

Lexis: Evidence

Lexis has an Evidence practice area, which includes a link to all its "Evidence Treatises, Practice Guides & Jurisprudence" and a browsable Evidence topic page, from which a researcher can access cases and other material related to evidence.
