Burns Dispatch: Document Delivery Service

Burns Dispatch is a non-profit, fee-based, document delivery service providing reproduction and circulation services for the collection of the Jacob Burns Law Library.

Fees, Invoicing and related restrictions

All fees are in U.S. funds. Fees include the applicable District of Columbia sales tax. The following fees are effective as of September 1, 2019.  Fee application policy is subject to change based on certain circumstances.

Photocopy fees

  • Minimum charge for 1 - 25 images
    • Friends: $25.00
    • Standard: $30.00
  • Charge for images after 25 image minimum has been reached
    • Friends: Photocopy - $0.75/per image; Fiche/film copy: $2.00/per image
    • Standard: Photocopy - $1.00 per image; Fiche/film copy: $2.00/per image

Book Loans Fees

  • Loan Period : 3 weeks for Friends and Standard clients. One renewal if there is no hold placed on the book.
  • Friends: No charge
  • Standard: $30.00
  • Renewals: $25.00
  • Overdue fees
    • Friends: $1.00 per day
    • Standard: $5.00 per day
  • Lost book: Minimum charge of $100.00 (or replacement cost, whichever is greater) plus $30.00 processing fee.  If the book is also overdue, those fees will be added.

Invoices

  • Invoices are sent on the first business day of the month for all services provided in the previous month.
  • Invoices are due 30 days after the sent date.
  • Details for payment are on the invoice.
  • Based on certain circumstances, payment of fees may be need to be made before service is provided. Clients will be informed prior to service being conducted.

Suspension of Service

Service will be suspended for the following:

  • Invoices 30 days or more overdue.
  • Overdue and/or lost books.
  • Overdue and/or lost book fee greater than $100.00
