Shown here is some very unique money that is over 200 years old. They are assignats, paper money printed by the French government between 1789 and 1796. They originally were printed in 1789 to avoid a looming national bankruptcy and were backed by the lands confiscated from the Catholic Church and the Crown. However, so many were issued that by 1793 they had become virtually worthless.
