Starting point for new students to familiarize themselves with technology they will encounter as a student at GW Law

Getting Started

BEFORE you arrive on campus WATCH a HOW TO VIDEO and learn how to access Law School email, the Law School wireless network and much more!

Use This Guide To:

  • Learn about the different accounts you will use as a GW Law student
  • Learn about the various systems you will use as a GW Law student and which account you will use to access which system
  • Learn about Library services and resources available that can help you succeed in Law School.
  • Learn who to contact with questions or for support with various technologies.

What is Happening in the Great Room During Orientation

Law School Help Desk

This site provides instruction for accomplishing many technology related tasks before you arrive on campus.  During Orientation Week staff will be on hand to answer questions and assist with any outstanding technology needs.

GW Law Library

Stop by the Great Room to meet Librarians and Library staff.  Learn about resources and services available through the Library to help you succeed in Law School.  Bloomberg Law and Lexis account representatives will provide information about their research services including training opportunities.

Where is the Great Room (Tasher Reading Room)?

The Great Room is located on the 1st floor of Burns Building.  During events you can enter this room from the entrance located in the lobby outside the library.  The door is to the left of the elevator.  At other times, this room is used as a quiet study room that can be accessed from within the library using the door in the Reference Commons.

Please visit the Help Desk in Burns 204 or send an email to  Staff of the Law School IT department can assist with questions about law school accounts, GWLaw1X wireless network access and more.

Please email for assistance with accessing research databases including Bloomberg Law, Lexis Advance, and WestlawNext.

Beyond Orientation about printing

Please visit the Colonial Printing website.  If you experience a problem with a Colonial Printing kiosk located in the Law School, please visit the Circulation Desk in the Law Library.
