Services @ the Jacob Burns Law Library

Come to the Law Library

We welcome GW Law alumni to use the law library.  Present  your GWorld alumni card or a GW Law alumni card upon entering the library.  If you don't have a card, you'll be asked to make a brief stop at the reference desk.  Prior to visiting the library, we encourage alumni to browse JACOB, our online catalog, to locate legal materials relevant to their research.

GW Law alumni may obtain a law alumni card from the Dean's Office, E214, 202.994.6288, or from the reference desk on the first floor of the law library.

For a GWorld alumni card, please visit the GWorld Card Office in the Marvin Center;click here for more information.

Special Services for GW Law Alumni

Westlaw

Through a special arrangement with West, GW Law alumni may use Westlaw at no charge via a dedicated computer located on the first floor of the Law Library.  While this service does not provide access to all Westlaw databases, it does provide access to federal and state legal materials, journals and law reviews, and major secondary publications.  GW Law alumni may obtain the password from the reference desk (1st floor).

Specialized Legal Databases

GW Law alumni may also use other popular databases from dedicated computers in the law library on the first floor, including HeinOnline, BloombergBNA, Intelliconnect (CCH), and RIA.  For more information about these resources, see our Guide to Using Online Resources.

Off-campus access is available for the Hein Online Law Journal Collection, through the GW Law alumni portal.  Log in to the the Alumni Community, then use the drop down menu for Benefits & Services to click on GW Law Library Resources.  Follow the instructions to sign into Hein Online.
