Access to the Library

Effective Monday, March 23, the library is closed.  We continue to offer services remotely.

Staff are present to accept deliveries, including those made by Staples, UPS, FedEx, USPS and other commercial delivery services.  Please knock on the door for assistance or phone 202.994.6648.

Reference Services

Reference services are available by email, chat, and text.  Librarians may be available by appointment through Google Meet.

Access to Materials at Burns Law Library and Interlibrary Resource Sharing

Please see our Interlibrary Resource Sharing guide for full information regarding obtaining loans and/or copies of material from this library and through interlibrary loan.

Please note that many libraries have suspended services so it may be difficult to find libraries willing to lend or copy. 

COPIES

LOANS

Burns Collection:  Per University directive, the library is no longer shipping physical items from the collection.

Interlibrary Loan:  Requests for physical items have been suspended at this time.
 
CLS:  Requests for physical items have been suspended at this time. For copies, it is best to submit an ILL request.

RETURNS

While the library is not open for patron use, members of the library staff have been working on-site throughout the coronavirus pandemic.  We are available to receive the return of library material during operational hours, Monday - Friday, 9am – 5pm.  Place library material on the book return cart at the library's first-floor entrance.  A staff member will retrieve the returned items from the cart and check them in.

If you chose to ship your materials, any shipping service may be used, as long as there is a tracker on the package.  Mail to:

Circulation

View your circulation record online by signing into your library account.  Due dates are extended to August 31, 2020, for all items borrowed from the GW Law Library by GW Law students who are registered for Summer and/or Fall, GW Law Visiting Scholars whose expiration dates are beyond August 31, and GW University patrons.  Items borrowed from the GW Law Library by GW Law faculty will automatically be renewed on May 15.

The circulation desk can be reached at 202-994-6648.  Return books to the library using a tracking service like UPS, FedEx or Priority Mail.  Ship to:
